Holy Week in Poblacion Makati

    HOLY WEEK 2023

Here in the Philippines, Semana Santa, also known as Holy Week or Lenten Week, is a significant religious event and cultural tradition that Filipinos really embracing it. It is a week-long commemoration of Jesus Christ's passion, death, and resurrection. The festival begins with Palm Sunday, which commemorates Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, and concludes with Easter Sunday, which commemorates his resurrection. Filipinos have a many religious activities throughout the week, including attending Mass and processions, praying the Stations of the Cross, and performing acts of penance and sacrifice. Many people also participate in cultural traditions such as the Visita Iglesia, which involves visiting seven different churches to pray, and the Pabasa, which involves nonstop chanting of the Passion of Christ.

During Holy Week, my family decided to have a walk in Poblacion Makati because my older sister saw an article in social media about a statue of a last supper picture that was made of paper. It is also not too far from our home, so we decided to go and have a walk in Poblacion. The place and the theme are very beautiful, and the street really showcases different kinds of statues that symbolize the story of our Jesus Christ. While walking around the place, you can buy some food that is located along the way while walking and viewing those arts that symbolize our Savior, Jesus Christ. There are different kinds of foods you can buy here that may be perfect while walking. You can also buy drinks like milk,  tea, and coffee along the street. The place was so very Instagrammable, you were like walking in the most historic place on earth. If you are planning to go here next Holy Week, you must be prepared because here you are going to walk for a long time to view those beautiful works of art. You are going from one place to another, but this is worth it. And also, you must have your camera with you because you are probably going to love the places and art you will see. This is perfect also for a night of bonding with your entire family and friends, you are not going to be bored viewing those amazing designs they do, because I assure you that your eyes will be happy. So what are you waiting for? Poblacion Makati is right around the corner; you don't have to go outside of Metro Manila to feel the vibe of Holy Week. You must put Poblacion Makati on your list for next Holy Week, mga ka'lakwatsero.

My Holy Week was not the same as others who go to the beach to swim and have fun, I used this Holy Week Break to connect with Jesus and also to reflect on the sins we committed. I participated in our home. I joined in the pabasa with my family, and also on Holy Friday, we also joined in the procession. This holy week is not about relaxation; it is about our savior, Jesus Christ, who sacrificed his life for ours. We must use this break to reconnect our faith to our one and only Jesus Christ.
